So, now to get down to some of the best cocktails that you can enjoy this summer.
We couldn’t share rum cocktails without mentioning the daquiri. It’s a firm favourite for many cocktail lovers, while being a sophisticated cocktail too. The standard daquiri is made with just 2oz of white rum, half a teaspoon of superfine sugar and a splash of lime juice. All you need to do is squeeze the lime juice into your cocktail shaker, stir in the sugar, add rum and shake with cracked ice. This is great cocktail base for other daquiri flavours that can be created by adding your favourite fruit pulps.
We don’t think that anything says summer more than a Pina Colada. It’s a summer cocktail you will find in any hotel abroad and for good reason too. It’s deliciously sweet, creamy and refreshing. To make a Pina Colada you will need 2 and half oz of rum, 2oz of pineapple juice and 1oz of coconut cream. Place the rum in your blender with pineapple juice and the coconut milk, add a handful of ice cubes and set the blender on high. For a really fancy finish to this summer cocktail add a pineapple leaf and maybe a cherry or two.
Just like the daquiri, we couldn’t talk rum cocktails without mentioning the mojito. It’s a simple cocktail to make and offers a fresh and tangy flavour. To make the perfect Mojito you will need 2oz of white rum, a squeeze of fresh line, 1 teaspoon of superfine sugar, 3 mint leaves and some soda water. You need to start by getting the right flavour. Take your lime juice and sugar and mix carefully, then add your mint leaves and crush them together to get the full flavour out of the mint. Add some ice cubes or cracked ice, pour in the rum and add the soda water on top. You’ve got the perfect Mojito. Add some mint leaves to garnish.
It’s not a well-known cocktail, but it is delicious. It’s also the perfect mix of pineapple, coconut and orange fruits to create a delicious and fruit summer cocktail. For the Painkiller cocktail you will need 3oz of dark rum, 2 oz of pineapple juice, 1oz of orange juice and 1oz of coconut cream. This cocktail is really easy to make with impressive results. Place all the ingredients in your cocktail shaker and shake away. Then pour over a glass with ice and there you have it, your Painkiller. For extra pizazz sprinkle with nutmeg.
If you love rum and you love milkshakes, then this cocktail will be a dream for you. It’s basically an alcoholic cocktail that you definitely need to keep away from children. You’ll need 2oz of dark rum, 1oz of Kahlua, 1oz of dark crème de cocao, 2oz of coconut cream, 2oz of milk and some whipped cream, chocolate shavings and a cheery to finish. Pop all the liquids in the blender with some ice and set the blender to high. Sit back and wait until the mixture meets your milkshake thickness standards. When it’s ready pour it into a glass, and decorate with whipped cream, a cherry and some chocolate shavings to taste. It’s a fabulous cocktail, that’s cool, creamy, fruity and absolutely scrummy!
