How To Host A Spooky Adult Halloween Drinks Party

Halloween has evolved over the years. While it originally began in America, it is a holiday season that has definitely grown in popularity in the UK too. Whether it’s the ghost stories, the parties, the costumes, the food or the treats that you love – hosting a spooky adult Halloween party is a great way to celebrate all these things and more.

So, in this blog post we share some top tips to help you host a spooky adult Halloween party that you and your guests will love.

Get Decorating

It probably goes without saying, but Halloween decorations are a must. This is your chance not to clean the house, because suddenly all the cobwebs can be part of the Halloween theme. Ghosts hanging in corners, a pumpkin or two outside and a witch’s hat or two could be all you need. If you want to go all out why not pop some gravestones in the front garden and have some automated decorations that let out cackles from (seemingly) nowhere?

Mood Lighting

Bright lighting is a definite no-no for your adult Halloween party. Grab some red fairy lights and replace your standard bulbs with red or black bulbs instead. The darker and dingier the better, but you still want to make sure that your guests can see each other, the food and the drink. You could find clever ways to illuminate these areas, so the rest of the home is at risk of things that go bump in the night. Why not include some bottles that light up for some extra ambience.

Ghoulish Treats

Unappetising food is the way forward when it comes to Halloween treats. Chopping cherry tomatoes in half with a piece of mozzarella and olive on top make great eyeballs. Pigs in blankets or cleverly cut frankfurters make brilliant severed fingers. Meatballs can work as brains and tomato ketchup works really well on anything as a splatter of blood. For some sweeter blood, how about a Victoria sponge dribbling with strawberry jam?

Cauldron Drinks

Every party needs a punch bowl, so why not make it a witch’s cauldron punch bowl? We share some great cocktail ideas in our recent blog post that you can find here. These boozy recipes can work really well as punches in a cauldron. If you’re looking at non-alcohol drinks or guests that don’t want cocktails, think Halloween colours. Dark reds such as cherry juice or alcohol-free red wine, green drinks such apple juice and purple drinks like alcohol-free gin and grape juice are great Halloween colours. Black drinks are a great Halloween colour too and this is where your coca cola mixer can come in.

Dancing Til Dawn

A great soundtrack is definitely required for your spooky Halloween adult party. The Monster Mash and Thriller should be making an appearance on your playlist. You may want to check out the spooky playlists on Spotify or Apple Music to get the party going with all the spookiest tunes that are bound to raise the dead!

What are your tops tips for the perfect adult Halloween party? We would love to hear them!
