The Whisky Smash

Whisky is one of the most popular spirits among many dads in the UK. This is the perfect mix of a dad’s favourite spirit with the ‘manliness’ of a smash.

You Will Need

A Whisky Smash Cocktail garnished with mint leaves

Method

  1. Muddle the lemon wedges in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Once muddled, add bourbon, simple syrup and mint leaves along with a handful of ice cubes.
  3. Shake the cocktail until mixed and well chilled.
  4. Take the cocktail shaker and double strain the liquid into a glass over fresh ice before garnishing with a sprig of mint.

Ginger Beer Margarita

While margaritas may sound or look feminine, they are a very popular cocktail among men. Why not treat your dad to this margarita? He’ll love the kick of fiery ginger and tequila.

You Will Need

Ginger Beer Margarita

Method

  1. Salt the rim of the glass, by dipping it in fresh lime juice before dipping it in the coarse salt.
  2. Place the tequila, lime juice and ginger beer into a large glass with simple syrup and ice and stir vigorously. This can be done in a cocktail shaker but do not mix the cocktail with the lid on as it will erupt from the carbonation of the ginger beer.
  3. Pour the cocktail into your prepared salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice cubes and garnish with a wedge of lime.

Sour Shandy

Many dads will enjoy a shandy when they’re down at the pub or having a Sunday Lunch with family. However, this cocktail offers the traditional shandy your dad loves, with a slight difference.

You Will Need

Method

  1. You can make your own beer syrup up to one week in advance. You will need to add half a cup of sour beer to half a cup of raw sugar and combine in a saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and continue stirring the mixture until the sugar has dissolved. At this point, remove the mixture from the heat and allow it to cool before refrigerating.
  2. Place your chosen clear spirit into a pint glass with your chosen citrus fruit juice and sour beer syrup and ice. Stir the mixture to combine.
  3. Top the mixture with your chilled lager. This should be poured at a 45-degree angle to mix during the pour.
  4. Once the lager has been added gently and briefly stir the cocktail to combine the mixture and lager before garnishing with a slice of citrus fruit.

Stout Shandy

Does your dad love nothing more than a good old stout beer? Then we have the perfect cocktail for him. Why not give this Stout Shandy a go? It could be his new favourite drink.
