Peroni Nastro Azzurro

A true Italian icon, full of style & elegance. Peroni has been brewing amazing beer since 1846. The founder found a perfect combination of climate, proximity to mountains for crystal clear water and specially chosen ingredients to create a truly amazing beer. As the brand grew throughout the early 1900s, the luxury Italian cruiser liner SS Rex was awarded the coveted Blue Riband (Nastro Azzurro in Italian) for being the fastest passenger ship to cross the Atlantic ocean. The ship became a symbol of national pride for Italy and the award lent its name to Italy’s most treasured beer. The nautical theme continued into the 1960s with most of their advertising campaigns depicting a sailor.

Only the highest quality ingredients go into Peroni Beer. The original recipe, that’s still used today, calls for a variety of Maize exclusive to Peroni. The Nostrano Dell’Isola Maize is grown in the small town of Bergamo in Northern Italy, where growing conditions are perfect. Irrigated by melted snow from the alps, the perfect climate and rich soil produce maize that creates the distinctively, crisp & refreshing taste.

Peroni Red Label

Peroni Rossa and its striking red label is the original brand of Peroni. It is thought that this is the most widely consumed beer throughout the Italian Peninsula. Much darker and fuller-bodied than the Peroni Nastro Azzurro often found in the UK. Its golden coppery hue is topped with a thin off-white head. A light aroma of caramelised brown sugar and citrus marks the start of an amazing beer. Faintly sweet on the palate, notes of brown bread and grassy hops with high carbonation. The grassy notes continue into the aftertaste. When served ice cold, it’s easy to understand why this is Italy’s favourite beer.
